From Spirit Sensing to The Sourced Cycle

The winter storms have finally passed. I’m sitting outdoors, amongst many shades of green, the energy of abundance and growth very present. 

It feels appropriate that I am writing now, in the place where the seedlings were planted for The Sourced Cycle - the teachings and program I am deep in the process of bringing to life. 

Let me tell you the story… 

It was a stunning day in October, 2023. People were gathered at the edges of a peaceful granite quarry, the sun glinting off the reflective water. I was sitting out of sight among tall grasses, in a little row boat, readying for my performance. I heard the bell chime and took two deep breathes before I began rowing. 

I rowed out into the middle of the quarry, ease-fully, delightfully - doing my best to not pay attention to the 50 or so people watching from the ledges. The call came - my collaborator, an incredible jazz performer, signaling to me with his saxophone. I spun gracefully around and around in my small vessel, searching, orienting, before I pointed the bow in his direction. 

I picked him up, our energy collided and I went into a trance, a meditation of intuition and presence. He played, I rowed, he sang, I rose and danced with fearless balance. We told the story of the quarry spirit. 

People told us after that the quarry responded. The wind ruffled the water attuning with our rhythm, a ray of sunlight extended onto us, the magic was perceptible. We had opened a portal. The name of the intuitive performance was, Spirit Sensing: Anima of the Quarry.

A women approached me once the Q&A was over to ask me how I embody the divine feminine so fully. She wanted to learn. This question threw me off, all at once I was humbled and honored - also immensely satisfied that she so readily experienced the energy I was hoping to convey. In that moment I could not answer her, and it plagued me for months. 

I spent all winter reading, listening, writing and taking cold frustrated walks by the ocean pondering this question: What is it that I have cultivated within myself, which creates optimal conditions for the divine feminine, and how can I share that with others? It was something which had formed and was still deepening slowly over years of self-discovery, creative practice, joy and pain. 

Then, after attending a sacred ceremony on my birthday that following spring, almost 6-months after the performance, I received the download. I call it this because it came all at once, like a flood - there was almost no time for me to even write it down. Wonder, Intuition, Pleasure and Creativity. These are the embodied elements, the cycle that tunes you somatically into connection with creative source.

Wonder is an opening

Intuition is trust

Pleasure is desire

Creativity is expression

Now I am bringing the learnings and teaching to life, through The Sourced Cycle.

Last night, here at this special place, the Manship Artist Residency, the director greeted me with a, “Welcome Home”. I feel that deeply in my heart, that this land and I are connected, collaborators. Spirit Sensing: Anima of the Quarry went on to become a short film, win 15 national and international awards and we are still planning exciting events for its debut publicly online this summer. 

As for The Sourced Cycle, it's evolved into a powerful methodology and program. I’ve guided women through the beta-version, reiterated and envisioned its expansion beyond what I initially dreamed. This September, Level 1: Creative Foundations will open to women who are interested in learning the methodology and beginning their journey to (re)connect with their creative source - through the lens of feminine wisdom, embodiment and simple artistic practices.
